A Letter from Peter

Coming back to Taipei the second day,

Waking up at 6.25am, rushing up to check my phone whether I overslept or not and suddenly realised, I was not in Dajia anymore, no more tiredness, no more Harold’s music annoying me, it’s just so strange, like my body has already used to the timeline when I were there.

“Oh shit!” was always my very first words I spoke out loud every morning as a greeting method (or you can say) to Harold. And I did the same this morning, but the only difference here is I’m no longer stay in the same place with everyone. Gazing aimlessly at the wall in front of me, the memories gradually come back.

I remembered vividly how Shark invited me to join the Project LET‘S Go. We have met before, some date on April 2021,  when I registered for the STEAM Project – also belongs to the PLG, he failed me. Back then I thought that myself wasn’t good enough to be able to join such a well-known volunteer work like PLG. Until one day, Shark and I, coincidentally, having lunch together with our Christine friends. I didn’t realize him were sitting just one person next to me until he suddenly pop off “Are you that SuGuangWei who registered for the STEAM Project last semester?” – and that was how I started to join the PLG.

I really appreciate for who came to my life since I am the type person that really believe in what so called FATE – 緣份. Thanks to it I have met so many awesome people and were able to work with them in this camping.

Shark, the very first person I know, is the warmest and the friendliest person. Just by the first impression, I know you are reliable and willing to help me when I was in need. One day, I told Shark that I didn’t how to use the Mbot and he spent an afternoon bike from his house to school just to instruct me about it. The fact that you are so busy but still willing to spend time for me makes me so touching. During this camp, I finally understood why you are so popular with the kids and the reason you pursue to be an elementary school teacher. Thank you for bringing me here and sorry for having caused you many concerns and troubles.

Pauline, the very talented and humourous girl I’ve ever met. You are also the best translator for me when we were in meeting and it was totally easy to understand for a non-Chinese speaker like me. I used to wish you could translate for me for any meeting we had. The reason I always called you 姐 is that I always admire you for your sarcasm. During this camp, even though I couldn’t get most of your joke, but deepdown me still could feel how hillarious and nasty you are. Besides, I got impressed by your singing skills with a really beautifully attractive voice. It is not exaggerating to say you are so perfect. Thank you for taking care of me and help me out.

木西哥, who has a soft deep voice and warmest smile, is one of the comfiest person. I cannot imagine how many sleepless nights you had and how much effort you put into as everything you had done was magnificient. We didn’t talk much but I feel that you are so much trustworthy and bring warm to people surrounding. Got first impression on you by the music you played during the first meeting of us and I knew that you are the nicest person I’ve ever known. Thank you Cola Mexico Brother for contributing so much for this journey.

美 Jane is my favorite name among all and I love calling it out everytime you are at my sight. Creative, intelligent, and beautiful are the 3 adjectives that I would use to describe you. To be honest, I couldn’t keep up with your words maybe it’s because I’m soooooo dumb but your ideas somehow blow my mind up. You have such energetic voice that almost blow my mind up when we were in KTV and eating out. I also got impressed by how fast you allocate the problems and sketching the solutions.

Irene, one of our team’s lovely girls, is little by size yet very imporant in this camp. You are so incredible, so much incredible and so so much incredible. The moment I saw those receipts on the table and the notes you still kept in your phone almost made me faint. How could a soft girl handle such painful job and it probably makes you sleepless many nights and losing many weights. I hope that you could have more time to relax after everything. Thank you for carrying such heavy task for us and I’m sorry if I carelessly made you upset during the camp.

(自)亮哥, one of the people I respect the most. Absolutely wisdom with a wide range of knowledge yet so humourous for your talking style. Everytime you convey your opinion, I just can’t keep myself from laughing, it was so amusing to see your expression and how you continue your story calmly when everyone started laughing. Your understanding is so praiseworthy, just a small piece of information you can connect to a different thing even with little relation.

Finally, my 白7 roommate – Harold. Honestly, I can’t make it to the end without your help. You are the one that I meet the most and support me when I encountered problems. Even though we just happen to work together in a short period of time, deep down me feel that we have already known for so long, maybe it’s because we share so many common things. No more bedtime stories, no louder Cantonese musics, no more bad words, those has become memories that cannot be stored anywhere else but inside me. Nonetheless, I hope you could achieve what you want and get yourself what you deserve.

Once again, it’s my honour to have met and worked with such talented people, I felt myself like a drop in the ocean when I was with you guys. Nevertheless, I’m glad that I’ve felt like that and thank to you guys, I’m able to learn a lot from each of you and I’m so grateful to be a part of this journey. Hope this will be my last volunteer camp because I want to save the last for the best.
